Data Sources and Methodology

This page explains where the numbers on The Harvest come from and how we present them.

Not a government website. The Harvest is an independent information publication. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Government of India, any state government, ministry, department or official scheme portal. We summarise publicly available official information for farmers.

Mandi prices

  • Source: “Current Daily Price of Various Commodities from Various Markets (Mandi)”, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, published on data.gov.in (Agmarknet).
  • What is shown: minimum, maximum and modal prices in ₹ per quintal, by market, variety and date reported.
  • Our processing: none — we display the records as published. A mandi appears only if it reported for the day.
  • Limits: prices are indicative and can differ from the price at the market.

MSP

MSP figures are taken from Union Cabinet decisions published by the Press Information Bureau, Government of India: Rabi marketing season 2026-27 (1 October 2025) and Kharif marketing season 2026-27 (13 May 2026).

Crop calendar

Sowing and harvest windows reflect the standard Kharif, Rabi and Zaid cropping seasons and vary by state and variety. Use them for planning only and follow local KVK advice.

Calculators

  • MSP calculator: MSP × quantity.
  • Fertilizer calculator: nutrient conversion using standard fertilizer grades (urea 46% N; DAP 18-46-0; MOP 60% K₂O; SSP 16% P₂O₅) and standard bag sizes.
  • Tractor EMI calculator: reducing-balance EMI formula.
